kelper  > London > World Naked Bike Ride (2009)
I first saw the bike ride in 2008, during a walk down Picadilly during which I did not have a camera. This year I was prepared.

kelper > The Bike Ride started at 3.30 pm, and I had a few hours in town, eating, book-buying and film-going beforehand. This is the rail-replacement-Routemaster I got from home to London Bridge, which caught fire a few blocks before London Bridge. I think this one has mainly been doing weddings since its retirement from public service (there was ribbon tied all the way down the bannister of the stairs), so it's just as well this didn't happen on wedding-duty.
kelper > I just thought St.Pauls was looking particularly fine.
kelper > I nipped into the Festival Hall to use the Ladies, and was struck by the ashtrays built into this ledge in the powder room. Times have changed.
kelper > My first glimpse of the ride. You can't really tell, but the far end of Picadilly is now a mass of little pink dots.
kelper > The advance guard of police escorts and stewards.
kelper > There was a mass riders like this, going past for about 10 minutes. I believe London's is the largest in the world, getting about 1000 people.
kelper > There were quite a lot of "Green Man" costumes. I was usually too slow to catch the costumes as they were coming towards me, so we generally have parting shots.
kelper > The best costumes of the year, I think.
kelper > The pedicab in the foreground isn't part of the ride. Though I suspect it might be next year.
